Comfort Suites Lake Norman - Huntersville

I was going to say you get what you pay (we had good service from the front desk), but after some thought I figured I should assist the next person thinking about booking a room at this hotel. The general condition is grubby, floors and carpets are scuffed and worn, furniture is threadbare and basic. The only good thing was the beds - they were clean and comfortable. The towels were worn and not enough for the number of occupants! Really?? Why ask how many adults and kids will join, and then not supply enough towels, etc. I guess the above could be tolerated, but after a really unacceptable interaction with the person on duty at breakfast today, I will not be back. After simply asking for more egg because there were a lot of people at breakfast, the person on duty made a big scene and went off at me in front of all the other guests. If the hotel management cared, they would sort this out. It’s not acceptable, simple. I’m a paying guest, I do not treat others this way no matter the situation.

We chose this hotel because it's located 15 minutes drive to the NC Renfaire and 15 minutes to downtown Charlotte. So right off the bat, it's a really convenient location. I'm really happy we chose this place, especially after reading reviews of others in the area. This place costs a little more than the competing midrange hotels, but it was WELL worth it. The other hotels I read about sounded like nightmares! At this hotel, everything was extremely clean, and the decor was modern. You could tell they renovate regularly. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We asked for more towels and another blanket, and they got it right away. We even had a nice conversation with one desk attendant. The room was very clean and smelled great. Ours had two queen beds, and were pleased to find a pull out sofa for extra sleeping space. The pool was a bit small, but it was heated, indoors, clean, and we had fun! The breakfast was tasty and plentiful with a lot of options. A lot of hotels are cutting costs by not offering hot food, but this hotel had eggs, bacon, and sausage along with a variety of pastries and the obligatory make-your-own waffle station. I've read a few unflattering reviews here, and I would suggest you take these with a grain of salt. Some people are just impossible. I've stayed in a lot of places, and this is as good as it gets for a budget friendly hotel. It's a very nice place for a business trip or family stay, but it's not a luxury resort! 😂 I suppose if I had to be picky, I would have liked to have seen mix-ins for the waffle station like chocolate chips or blueberries, but I'm not taking any stars away for that. Everyone in the family was happy with this place. We'll definitely be staying again next time we're in town!

Customer service None So we checked into the hotel and accommodation is as expected. We tried to run the shower and maybe 10% of the water comes through. I rang reception and no-one answered, I went down to reception to ask if they can fix it or change the room as the shower is not working and they are not full. She phoned the manager and he said no we are here for two nights and they will get it looked at tomorrow! This is really bad and I would not support this place again.

It's a Comfort Suites, so you already have to lower your expectations a little going in. I got what I paid for, and it made me realize that I can be a little less frugal with vacations going forward. The room itself is pretty clean, save for some unsettling little stains on the curtains, but again, three star hotel, they probably don't wash their curtains, and I didn't plan on touching those anyway. The bed itself was clean, checked the mattress, free of any bedbug traces which I'm terrified of. I don't know if this is an all hotels thing or just this one, but did you know that you can hear the pipes of everyone on a floor above you flushing the toilet? Because I did not, and it was "scare me and my boyfriend awake" loud. This comment is more for upper management: Seriously? Wallpapered bathroom? Are you trying to scream "I'm cheap and I don't care that stains are visible a lot faster and for a lot longer than if we tiled the walls"? Based on this, you can guess how many unsettling mildew/mold stains in the bathroom wall I saw. There was also a point where I looked over at the shower wall and went "Hmm. That's not my hair." Again, this isn't a Ritz or anything so I know I have to keep my expectations tempered. Overall, mid, will likely use the hotel we used the year before this.
